PMSing is always bad this time of year

I'm going to do a TOTALLY un-p.c. rant!

Since the New Year, the gym has really been packed to the point that all machines are full when I get there. Pre- New Year's, I had no problem be able to get on only 1 of 2 Stairmasters. Post New Year's, everytime I go, they're taken by........MEN!!!!

Why in the hell would a man want a high tight ass?!?!?! And what TV show put this idea in their heads?!?!?!?!?!

Out of sheer anger, I complain to Fanecha that they look gay on the machine. And there are two that I know are gay that have beat me to the machine before- for some reason, I have no problem with them, but the other 2 or 3 straight ones have NO business (sez me) on the Stairmaster when the Stairmaster is MINE!!!!

THEN, when I was forced to get on the elliptical because the Stairmasters were taken up, SOMEBODY in my immediate perimeter was funky as hell! Smelled like canned ass in a hot dumpster! Funky to the point that every few minutes or so I'd frown up my face and sniff in the other people's area. True, when you work out you'll be sweaty and smelly. But there's a difference between workout B.O. and someone not washing their outfits...it was a moldy, funky clothes smell.

No, I'm not smoking on anything, just PMSing.

I've been sticking to the gym like I'm supposed to, with the exception of missing last Thursday. Got my "box on" Saturday, waited for a few minutes yesterday for a Stairmaster and finished the workout with ab work.

Would you believe that last week, the scale told me that I GAINED 6 to 8 pounds? Yesterday, I was back down to 178.

*sigh*

Onward, HO!

Million Dollar MAYBE

Let me catch up for the week...

...I've been trying to watch what I eat. Sometimes I'll do really good, and others I'll make up for if I eat horribly. For instance, though I ate a Philly Steak sub with extra meat and extra mayo for lunch, I remained full for the remainder of the evening and skipped dinner....nevermind.

Monday, we went to Step Aerobics (Brina's class) and it went well. Tuesday my friggin' car was acting up and I didn't go to the gym. Thursday was cardio on the machines with some weights and ab work. And Saturday...

...Saturday was a beast.

Fanecha & I decided to go to a boxing "class" at 8:30 Saturday morning. We get there, there's no instructor and the lady at the desk didn't know what the hell we were talking about. So we decided to hit the bags anyway. I'm jabbing, crossing, uppper-cutting and hooking myself into a drenching sweat. Then this portly man eases his way over to us. After a few minutes of half-assed bickering with him (he was unprofessional and I let him know it), we figured out that he was the instructor's helper. This was at 9:05. He finally asks us if we want to get started- and we did...sort of.

After 30 minutes of hitting the bags hard, we start running laps, ab work, jumping jacks and a bunch of other crap. The instructor rolls in at about 9:30 with a bunch of teenage boys- for the boxing "team"...there is no class, but they welcomed us to stay & learn. I was on a tight schedule and had to leave. I wasn't really mad, because I still got in a great workout, but I HATE unprofessional people. By the end of the day, I was so sore & stiff in my upper back that I just wanted to curl up and cry.

Sunday, I did cardio on the machines and a little bit of ab work and some stretching. I've decided to hit the bags on Saturdays for my workout, because I really did like it. I don't think I'm going to fool with that "class"- at least not until they get their shit together.

Dream Coming True!!!

You Wouldn't Believe It!

I bought and can fit in my first pair of size eight jeans! (Check the title of this blog)
Though it took some talent and a little bit of Pilates stretching in the dressing room, I got those bad boys up and closed!

Plus side is that I could squeeze into them, negative side is that they exaggerate my big belly. I bought them, and they are affectionately known as my "hot crotch jeans".

Exercise has been going well. I missed last Thursday and Saturday (Thursday was worn out from a trip to Maryland, plus had an event that I had to get ready for; Saturday was running around behind my son). Sunday went very well.

I haven't been eating crazy, though I can't leave the chocolate at work alone. I've also shed 4 and a half pounds (must've been water weight), so I'm back down to 178...THAT was stressing me out like you wouldn't believe!

I'm looking forward to a great workout week! I'm still not at my targeted weight (165 to 170), and I have lots of work left to do.

Count Saturdays In!

I made it to the gym Saturday!

Getting there was accomplishment enough for me, because it was part of my goals to begin working out on Saturdays and I did it!

Did 35 minutes on the machines & ab work. I realized that it's difficult for me to do reverse crunches after being on the stair master & elliptical. So difficult, that I couldn't even finish my sets. I did 4 sets of sidebends and planked.

I ate a half of a cinnamon roll & 3 slices of bacon for breakfast- for a total of about 300 calories (don't ask, I'll tell later); 3 open faced sloppy joe sandwiches for lunch/dinner- I ate so late, there was no point in doing dinner.

Okay, I'm being more calorie concious, since guilt works better on me than anything. I'm listing my favorite foods & their caloric count and sort of watching what I eat that way. A Grands cinnamon roll is like 310 calories...so I'll just eat half of it with some bacon, etc, etc.

Sunday, I went to my first Pilates class. I'm used to using the DVD at home, so I was looking forward to taking the class.

I hated that fucking class!

First off, I was terribly uncomfortable doing the poses in my ultra tight fitting sports bra. Second, I was getting bored. Third, I couldn't see what the instructor was doing so I KNEW over half my executions and poses were wrong. Last, she kept saying "you guys are doing great", and I knew that bitch was lying. Of course, I was soooo ready for that class to end. I'll just do Pilates at home again. After the class, I did 30 minutes of cardio....couldn't get to 35 because I was dying of thirst (didn't bring any water with me).

Sunday breakfast was more like "fuck calories", as Marcus stopped by & I cooked an impromptu breakfast, complete with fresh made belgium waffles (with whipped cream), bacon & eggs. Dinner was grilled steak, mashed potatoes w/basil & garlic & veggies. YUMMY!

Onward!!!

A Booty-ful Workout

I really enjoy working out. There hasn't been a day where I regretted going to the gym. There hasn't been a day when I thought that I couldn't continue. But last night, for some reason, I felt like I was on top of the world while exercising.

Maybe it was because I gained an inch in my booty, and I was feeling cocky by the time I got to the gym. Remember when I talked about having a nice, round, cup-holder ass? Seeing that measuring tape at a higher notch on my hips was pleasing...because I know my booty is getting right.

I did the usual 20 minutes on the stairmaster, and 15 on the elliptical. Sweated my tail off, and when I finish the machine workout, my ass feels nice & tight and sort of lifted. So whenever I pass a mirror or window, I have to look at my butt. I even turned to the side in the mirror while I did sidebends with weights....just to see how round my butt is getting.

I crack me up sometimes. In the meantime, I'm really going to try to get in the gym on Saturday. I usually don't go on Saturdays, but in order to increase my days working out, I'll have to.

I ate a ham & egg scramble for breakfast; 3 snackers from KFC for lunch and a grilled chicken salad from McD's for dinner.

Me vs. The Resolutioners

I went to the step class Monday at the Petersburg Y. That class would be okay if they can control the temperature of the exercise room. It's bad when the mirrors start steaming up. Other than that, it was a great, strenous class.

Yesterday, I hit the Y in Chester (my favorite)...and that place was soooooooooooo crowded. I couldn't understand why until I thought about it: New Year's Resolutions to get fit. Usually there's the normal peak hours at the gym, any gym. But last night, people kept pouring into that place like crazy!

Dammit!

So I'm going to have to compete for machines & space from here 'til....let's say March. Sad to say, but a lot of people loose motivation by this time.

I also started a workout group on the National Body Challenge site- called the VA Phatties. It's supposed to be me, John, Marcus & Tonya. We'll see how that goes.

I'm Ready for 2006

My goal is to stay on track with my workout. The month of December saw me in the gym "here & there"....January on, it's back in the routine.

Saturday, I went to the gym & did 35 minutes on the elliptical and stairmaster...then did some upper body weights & ab work.

I partied too hard for New Year's Eve, and didn't go to the gym on Sunday. We had a New Year's Luau, and did the limbo- my back is killing me. But we had a blast.

I'm going to kick up my workout days, too. Sun., Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Sat. I REALLY want to start doing ab work/squats in the mornings again...that means I have to get out of bed earlier.

I'm also tracking my progress on the National Body Challenge as well. Notice how I haven't said anything about my eating habits.... : P
