Day 5, re-dux- Rethinking the Workout

Non eventful day.

Breakfast was skipped, lunch was a ham & grilled chicken melt (and I cheated with some "fripps"- fried thin slices of potatoes), dinner was a bowl cardboard granules & milk.

Speaking of Grape Nuts, either I really laid on the sugar or I'm starting to get used to the taste, as I ate the entire bowl.

Did not make it to my ab class, but I did 30 minutes of cardio & upper body weights. I noticed that as I got into about 10 minutes of cardio, I wasn't sweating...so I kicked up the resistance level of the machine. I've been planning to increase my duration on cardio machines starting Sunday, but I may need to increase the resistance as well...we'll see.

Overall: wasn't too bad of a day!

Day 4, part deux- Got Gas?

I woke up and it felt like my insides were gonna fall out...cursed Grape Nuts!

Breakfast was Frosted Mini Wheats, lunch was a cheese steak, and dinner was....a can of sardines (again, the guilt from the cheese steak).

I didn't workout, as it was a rest day, but I kinda wished I did.

Day 3, The Sequel- A Day of Painful Mistakes

My day started off with a bang. Woke up to a visit from Cousin Red, and that just set the tone for the rest of the day for me.

Breakfast was 3 strips of bacon & 2 boiled eggs (first mistake). Snacked on some mixed nuts (second mistake). Lunch was the tastiest friggin' chicken salad sandwich ever....from Arby's- along with a sinful macadamia nut cookie and not one, but TWO of the moistest blueberry muffins known to exit an oven. Needless to say, I felt extremely guilty and decided to go light for dinner...it was a bowl of cardboard morsels and milk (better known as Grape Nuts). How the hell do people eat that crap??? Even when I added teaspoon after teaspoon of sugar, I could barely eat it!

Even though Red was in town, I decided to go to my kickboxing class anyway. I took it easy in class, since the last one nearly made me pass out. At the end of class, the instructor led us through a series of "planks", and I complied (third mistake). By the time I crawled into bed, the bottom fell out....literally. My stomach was cramping SO bad and I was SO gassy, I went from pooting to burping to clutching my stomach, and started the series all over again....call it "Bullfrog plays Butt Trumpet".

Don't you just love reading my entries? : )

Overall: Let's just say that for the 300th time or so, I've been reminded of how much I hate Eve.

Day 2, Junior- Cardio Getting Better

Breakfast was 3 strips of bacon. Lunch was 2 steak gordita supremes and a hard taco. Dinner was a lowly hot sausage on a fork.

I had to force myself to go to my Step class, but I'm really glad that I did. It was the best class yet! I don't know if it was because I could get through it with little effort (meaning my conditioning has improved), OR it's because I like that instructor. She's real cool, the other one has the personality of cabbage. I didn't do any weight training, as the Step class incorporated light weights in the routine (plus, I just wanted to go home afterwards...I really think that I could have done it if I wanted to).

Day 1 AGAIN- A Clean Slate!

As you all can tell, I haven't worked out or posted here since the end of March. Well, I have a renewed sense of commitment, and my pals at the HOW forum is collectively doing amongst us what I've been trying to do all along: establish a community of fitness & healthy lifestyle minded friends that can encourage and motivate each other via the internet.

Quick update:

I got a membership at the "Y" back in August, and have been exercising on a regular basis since September 11. I bought a new workout journal, and with the help of tools at the Y and their class schedules, I have what I need to establish a routine and continuity.

To date, I've been going to the gym 4 times a week (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday with an optional Yoga class on Saturday). Doing 30 to 50 minutes of cardio all four days through a class or the cross country skier. I'm SUPPOSED to do mechanical weights in targeted areas all four, but depending on how much the class kicked my ass, I've slouched. I do an ab class on Thursdays and have not yet made it to the Saturday Yoga.

Now all I have to do is work on my nutrition. I did cut out fried foods for a week. Okay, I'll admit I cheated this past Friday as I went out and had fries and hot wings. And because of that, I'm extending it for another week.

I'm totally excited about this group that HOW has started. I'm hoping the original slackers can get re-motivated to get in shape.
